Hello! I'm Karmen, independent art director and editorial design specialist.
Experience
For over two decades, I’ve worked in the ever-evolving media and design industry, contributing to a wide range of brands and projects in South Africa and the Netherlands. With roots in editorial content and a love for visual storytelling — from books, magazines, and newspapers to corporate marketing, branding, and supplements — I combine deep expertise with a fresh, contemporary approach to every project.
My art direction experience involves restyling existing publications, providing creative direction of new ones, directing photo shoots and commissioning and managing designers, illustrators or stylists in both small agencies and editorial team setups.
How I work
I am currently based in South Africa but serve clients worldwide. I’m perfectly happy working independently but also love working in teams and I have built up a solid network of partnering talent to collaborate with, depending on your project requirements.
